| We've Changed |
|
|
Effective: Monday 20th October 2003
Why?
We have been in dialogue with the Medicines and Healthcare products Regulatory Agency (MHRA) about obtaining clearer guidelines for providing treatments via the internet. As a result, we have taken measures to improve our service and to further confirm our status as a recognised 'online clinic'. We fundamentally welcome any action to regulate an industry which contains many 'cowboy' type operations. |

What are the changes? The main changes concern the references to prescription only medications such as Viagra, Cialis, Levitra, Uprima, Propecia, Reductil and Xenical which have been available via our website.
Under the new format, customers are able to review information on their particular condition, and complete an online form that will ask simple questions – such as height, weight, age, details of current medications etc and condition specific questions. Once you have completed this form, our doctor reviews your answers with a view to making a diagnosis and suggest treatment options.

|
 |
|
| Although the website will continue to offer the above medications, they will only be mentioned once a medical consultation form is reviewed by our doctor and a diagnosis is made for either erectile dysfunction (impotence), obesity or male pattern baldness. |
You are then emailed details of the diagnosis and suggested treatments. If for example, you have been diagnosed as suffering from erectile dysfunction, the doctor may have emailed to suggest either of the options such as Viagra, Uprima, Levitra, Cialis or he could even suggest no medicinal treatment. At this point, you will be given a link to buy the treatment of your choice (unless the doctor has specified one particular type of treatment because of something you had mentioned on the form).
You would then order the medicine, and provide payment details. The request is then sent to the doctor who would authorise a prescription and contact the pharmacy to dispense and despatch your medication. |

When did this happen?
The new format was lauched on Monday 20th October 2003.
What will happen when I need a repeat prescription?
For repeat orders, you simply check and update your medical details at the website, and provide payment. This makes the whole process a lot easier and faster when you need to order again. The re-ordering element of the new HealthExpress.co.uk will be live two weeks after the website re-launch.
Can I still use my existing log-in details?
For your first treatment, you will need to go through the complete process as if you were a new customer. This is so that all of the extra medical questions are covered so that the doctor is able to present your options of treatment based on your ‘new’ answers. However, once you complete the process once, you then simply update the details when ordering again – and it will be quicker.
How Will I benefit from this Change?
You can order treatment online with the peace of mind in knowing that you are ordering from a genuine and authentic UK website. Admittedly, you will have more questions and a longer process than you may have been used to with us, however after the first order, it will be much quicker for you. You will see us tackle a whole new range of conditions which otherwise could not have been covered in the current format. In future we will also introduce additional member benefits such as discounted private health care and negotiated rates at gyms and health/beauty centres near you.
- UK regulated and compliant Website.
- Wider range of medical conditions covered.
- Genuine branded UK specific treatments.
- Discounts on healthcare products and services.
- Forums for discussing conditions and treatment progress.
- Affiliated UK clinic network for physical consultations.
Will the whole process remain confidential and discreet and secure?
Yes. All that we ask is that you do not use a shared email address, and that you ensure that the address is correctly entered. We do not share your information with 3rd parties. The website will continue to use highly encrypted secure pages for your peace of mind.
What if I do not want what the doctor suggests?
The doctor will only restrict your treatment options if it is in your interests due to other medication that you may be using, or reasons such as your heart condition – particularly relevant for Viagra users. Furthermore, you are open to discuss the matter directly with the doctor - without charge.
Will this mean no more next day delivery?
No. Once the doctor has reviewed your medical details you get an email notification straight away which gives you the authority to go ahead and complete the order. When you do this, provided it’s in by 4pm, you will get delivery next day. On the new form, you will have the option to receive an SMS Text message to let you know that the doctor has diagnosed and to check your email.
What will happen to non-UK websites?
The medications that come into the UK via foreign websites are not made for the UK market and you may not have any assurances as to how genuine they are – you may end up with a product that could do more harm than good. The laws which affect prescription medication outside of the UK are also tightening rapidly.
Going Forward
Ever since our launch in September 2002, we have aimed to provide a top quality health service which allows people to get help with conditions that are hard to tackle face to face. However, we have always stressed the importance of getting a physical examination to check for any underlying medical conditions.
The volume of emails and telephone calls of gratitude we receive is pleasantly surprising, many customers have informed us of how getting treated has improved their relationships and self esteem. Where previously they have been too embarrassed to confront their problem, HealthExpress.co.uk has allowed them to find help from the comfort of their own home.
We are determined to continue offering our service over the internet in the UK. In the future, we are also looking to expand our services and cover more conditions and to subsequently offer more treatment options. We are confident that internet technology will play an even bigger part in healthcare provision in the future and that HealthExpress.co.uk will be recognised as a leading authorative source for information and treatment online.
