What are the benefits?
Like most oral contraceptive treatments, Dianette can provide you with immediate protection if taken on the first day of your menstrual cycle (period). If you are unable to take it on the first day of your period, you will have to use an additional method of contraception for seven days. After this point you will be completely protected.
Because of the active female sex hormones present in each Dianette pill, this medicine is also a very effective treatment for reducing excessive hair growth, and for reducing greasy skin and acne outbreaks.
How do Dianette pills work?
This oral contraceptive prevents pregnancy in three ways. Firstly, it prevents ovulation from occurring, so no egg gets released for potential fertilisation. Secondly, it increases the thickness of the mucus in the cervix, which makes it difficult for sperm to navigate through the cervix. Thirdly, it prevents the thickening of the womb lining so that an egg cannot grow.
Who can use Dianette?
Women over aged 18 or older can order Dianette pills online. You shouldn't take Dianette pills if you are pregnant or breastfeeding, if you have heart or liver problems, have had a stroke, have hypertension, high cholesterol or diabetes. This medication works like most other oral contraceptives, but with a difference in the combination of synthetic progestogen and oestrogen each Dianette pill contains. Dianette pills contains cyproterone acetate (2 milligrams) and ethinylestradiol (35 micrograms). How do you take Dianette pills?
Dianette is a 21 day monophasic pill; this means that you take a pill for 21 days of your menstrual cycle and then leave seven days when you will not take any Dianette pills. During these seven days you will still be protected against pregnancy. This contraceptive comes in calendar packs to help you track when to take your pill and when to stop. You should try and take Dianette at the same time each day, with or without food, so that you reduce the chance of you forgetting to take it.
What are the side effects?
Like most medications, Dianette can cause side effects. However, Dianette pills are generally well tolerated, and side effects are very rare, and if they do occur, they tend to be very mild. The most common side effects are changes in menstrual bleeding, menstrual spotting, headaches, upset stomach, nausea, breast tenderness, weight changes and a decreased sex drive. Dianette pills can sometimes affect your mood, so it's important to notify somebody close to you if you start taking it.
