| According to a Department for the Environment, Food and Rural Affairs (Defra) in the UK, highly infectious H5N1 virus has been detected in three swans, near Chesil beach in Dorset in the UK. This discovery was made when the department officials were on a routine surveillance. |

Britain at Low Risk Bird Flu |
| According to Chief Veterinary Officer, Fred Landeg, “While this is obviously unwelcome news, we have always said that Britain is at a constant low level of risk of introduction of Avian Influenza.” |

Public to Take Precautions |
Landeg said, “Our message to all bird keepers, particularly those in the area, is that they must be vigilant, report any signs of disease immediately, and practise the highest levels of biosecurity.”
