Cheryl Cole’s weight loss worry

Cheryl Cole seems to be virtually on top of the world. The star is one of the most famous women in Britain at the moment, and is regularly rated to be one of the most beautiful in polls. However, new concerns have surfaced about her diet, and in particular the large amount of weight that she has lost.

The singer's own mother has expressed concern that Cheryl’s recent weight loss is unhealthy. She has reportedly had words with Cheryl and asked her to be careful about becoming too thin.

Cheryl has lost around half a stone since she split up with her ex-husband Ashley Cole. At the Glamour Awards earlier this month she was looking noticeably thinner, and it is believed that the strain of her intense dance routines has taken its toll on her body. Cole has previously admitted: “I watch what I eat, not to stay slim, but to feel good. It has made such a difference.”

Manipulating weight for the movies

Although avoiding obesity is undoubtedly a good thing, going too far in the other direction and becoming too thin can sometimes be equally damaging.

One celebrity who has taken weight loss to the extreme is the rapper 50 Cent. Photographs recently emerged of the star looking dangerously skinny, in stark contrast to his previously muscular and toned physique. He had lost weight for a role in an upcoming movie, where he plays an American football star who has been struck down by cancer.

50 Cent has remained adamant that he will be able to regain the weight easily. He told reporters: “I’ll be back in shape in no time!”

Several other film stars have also deliberately lost weight to prepare for silver screen roles. This includes Christian Bale, who lost a huge amount of weight to star in The Machinist. Meanwhile, other actors have done the opposite and consciously become obese, in order to fit into character. Rene Zellweger did this when she was getting ready for Bridget Jones’ Diary. Her weight gain diet saw her eating a crash diet of ice cream and junk food.
