
Ok so we all know that alcohol units and excessive consumption of them are playing their part in what has fast become obesity pandemic here in the UK. However, health experts are now claiming that Red wine contains Revestarol, a substance found in red wine that’s actually known for its possession of properties that are known to extend life expectancies and help fight obesity.
The findings were born of a study conducted at the Centre National de la Recherche Scientifique which involved lemurs. It found that they gained less weight during their seasonal fattening period when given food containing the by product.
The supplement was also shown to boost their metabolism and even seemed to cause them to cut back on their meal times. This in the expert’s opinion meant they were able to lose more weight.
"The overall goal would be to develop some dietary supplementation or nutrient strategies that could interfere and decrease body mass gain and obesity," said study researcher, Fabienne Aujard.
Past studies show that resveratrol which is produced naturally by plants. These could well provide handy antioxidants will protect against cell damage.
An additional study on mice found that it could always help prevent other health problems that are associated with high fat diets. These included high blood sugar levels and heart or liver problems.
The key to a healthy heart is regular exercise and a balanced diet.
