Impotence sufferers can now breathe a little easier this week amidst reports of a brand new inhaler, designed to help treat the symptoms of erectile dysfunction in as little as ten minutes.

The device contains a powdered strain of the drug; apomorphine which works to stimulate the chemical receptors in the brain that are connected with sexual function. The inhaler is still undergoing trials but if tests prove conclusive, it is surely set to prove successful given the fact as many as 40% of the male population suffers with impotence here in the UK.

Previously, drugs like Viagra, Cialis and Levitra have proven extremely popular in alleviating the symptoms of impotence although 30% of men have actually shown little sign of improvement after their recommended courses.

For these men, the only option would be to inject drugs straight into the penis, or to use a manual pump that can often be invasive and indiscreet and to be frank, neither is the treatment of choice.

Stiff competition

The new Viagra style inhaler is said to work in 10 minutes; 30 minutes faster than established impotence treatments.

Accidental discoveries

Following the accidental discovery of Viagra over a decade ago, pomorphine was initially developed to treat Parkinson’s disease. Experts soon cottoned on to the fact that it also helped to boost the male sex drive and a recent study, published in the Journal of Sexual Medicine showed that a large proportion of 600 men who were tested using the powdered drug, were able to attain an erection in 10 minutes.
