New year fitness plans set for faliure according to expert figures

With Yule tide and New Year behind us, Chcristmas is bound to have bred some overindulgence and with an increase in toxins and body fat, come the added pounds.

The New Year can often bring the desire for a new you and official stats show that 4 million of us intend to stop drinking alcohol from this month, in a bid to keep our weight in check and to generally improve our overall health. Although this is a positive sign for the future, official figures indicate that as many as 1 in 5 of these people will let their resolutions slip come February.

In relation, 48% of us are reported to embarking on a weight loss regime this month, and £200million is also said to have been spent on gym memberships UK wide. Although this too is a positive sign, health experts have predicted that 70% of us will join a gym and stop going within a month. This goes to show that joining a gym has a placebo effect in that by simply joining a gym; many of us are under the illusion that this is enough to lose weight.

In similar fashion, health experts have also communicated the dangers of fad dieting, which they believe to be responsible for greater harm on our health than good. They have also highlighted a real need for greater education concerning the dangers of visceral fats, which are accumulations of body fat around the abdominal organs.

In addition to this, many also believe that we must place a greater precedence over a healthy diet and exercise in order to maintain a healthy weight.
