Newborn baby kept alive by Viagra

It seems that Viagra doesn’t only save love-lives but actual lives, too.

The erectile dysfunction drug is keeping an eight month year-old baby, Sharice Dunnon, alive by helping to keep the blood flow going to her heart. The toddler was born with heart complications after, upon drawing her first breath, her stomach was sucked into her lungs. Now thanks to the little blue pill, she is alive and well.

It’s the latest in a in the latest of a string of stories where Viagra has proved to be more than just an impotence treatment. Because the medication opens up blood vessels, it can be helpful in alleviating a variety of health conditions where a person’s blood flow is restricted. In one recent example, Viagra was used to help a mother give birth. The drug was used to thicken the lining of her womb to the point where doctors were able to implant embryos. Other cases where Viagra have come to the rescue include situations where it has been used to help people with lung conditions.

Viagra is not alone in the erectile dysfunction drug market in helping with multiple conditions. The alternative drug, Cialis, has recently been proven to help people suffering from muscular dystrophy. There are also ongoing trials to work out whether Cialis can be used to treat head and neck cancer.

Serving their primary function as impotence treatments, Viagra and Cialis have both helped millions of men overcome their erectile problems. Both drugs are relatively young, and researchers are discovering more and more about the ways that they can be used – potentially, they could be extremely useful tools for treating a great variety of conditions.

If you are concerned about impotence, consult a medical practitioner. Bearing in mind recent evidence, showing that erectile dysfunction can sometimes be a predictor for more serious health problems, it is especially important that you make sure impotence is not a sign of deeper underlying health problems.
