A French study, which examined 12,000 French men and women about their sexual experiences, seems to have shown that obese people have worse sex lives.
Interestingly, this seems to apply more for women than it does for men. Obese women were nearly one third less likely to have had a sexual partner in the last year, in comparison with women of a regular weight. On the other hand, obese men differed little from slimmer ones when it came to having good luck in the bedroom. The researchers who conducted the study have postulated that perhaps women are more likely to put up with an obese partner, than vice versa.
Barriers to having sex
Part of the problem could be that obese people are more likely to have low self-esteem. They face social barriers, which dictate that overweight people are less attractive. They are also more likely to suffer from physical problems such as diabetes, urinary stress incontinence or muscular-skeletal abnormalities. These problems could all hinder sex.
Obesity and sexual problems
Aside from being less likely to actually have sex, when obese people do make love, they are more likely to have difficulties, researchers say. Fewer obese women access birth control services, so they are four times more likely to accidentally become pregnant during sex. Both the women and their babies are then more likely to have complications while giving birth.
Losing weight
This latest research shows that losing weight not only lowers your risk of serious health conditions like cardiovascular disease. It can also give your sex life a boost.
The best weight loss method that you can follow is to exercise regularly and eat a healthy diet. Some people also find that slimming pills can help them to achieve a lower weight.
Anyone who has successfully lost weight will attest to the fact that, despite all the hard effort they had to go through to reach a normal size, the benefits once they had done so easily outweighed the struggle.
