Pretty women cause impotence

You would naturally think that when a man is in the presence of a stunningly beautiful woman, it would make it easier, not more difficult, for him to achieve an erection. Nevertheless, new research from Italy suggests that being around a pretty girl can actually send a man’s anxiety levels so high that he becomes impotent.

Around eighty men were individually asked to sit alone in a room as part of the study. They were met first by a man and then by a woman. Upon meeting the women, their levels of the stress chemical Cortisol rose significantly. For men who felt that the women who they were meeting were ‘out of their league’, stress levels were so high, that they were comparable to the levels experienced by a parachutist as he jumps from an aircraft. Because it can be so nerve wracking to meet a beautiful woman, the researchers concluded that it is perfectly feasible that when some men go to make love to such a lady, that become so anxious that they simply cannot get an erection.

Aside from impotence, it was also suggested by the researchers that beautiful women could, theoretically, spark off heart attacks and strokes. As some commentators have already pointed out, all of this information sounds like bad news for Playboy boss Hugh Hefner.

Anxiety and impotence

Anxiety of any type is a major cause behind impotence. Men are often so worried about their performance that it gets in the way of any feelings of desire or arousal, which are necessary for an erection to happen. The same can be said of premature ejaculation. For both of these conditions there are now treatments available – Viagra for erectile dysfunction, and new drug Priligy for premature ejaculation.
