Sale of online drugs made legal in Norway

A recent change in the Pharmaceutical act in Norway has now allowed for the online purchase of medicines, including over the counter treatments. The amendment also extends to the shipping of drugs purchased online.

The previous rule meant that it had not companies had not been permitted to send drugs through the mail. The move will undoubtedly provide e-commerce companies with a number of fresh opportunities.

Strict guidelines

Health regulators have stated that online drugs are now perfectly legal in Norway, provided they do not contain drugs or doping agents. The medications must also be acquired within the European Economic region.

There had previously been a number of restrictions on prescription medicines in Norway and customs claim to have stopped as many as 5,000 packages of prescription pills and treatments on a yearly basis.

Rising popularities

Here in the UK, the most widely bought online medications are impotence treatments, obesity solutions and hair loss pills. Viagra is the world’s biggest selling drug, manufactured by global company, Pfizer.
