Viagra may improve heart performance in people with muscular dystrophy

There is good news for people with muscular dystrophy, which is an hereditary disorder which effects the muscles within the body of patients, including the heart, making them extremely weak.

Researchers at Montreal Heart Institute experimented on mice with muscular dystrophy problem by giving them sildenafil, which is an active ingredient of a popular anti-impotence pill, Viagra. They found that after the conclusion of this experiment that generally the mice had much better heart performance, improving their health dramatically.

According to researchers, it may be premature to give Viagra to people with muscular dystrophy, but it has certainly raised a new hope for such men. However, they did not rule out potential use of this drug among children with muscular dystrophy problem for delaying their heart failure.
What is Duchenne muscular dystrophy?
It is genetic disease that causes general weakness, degeneration of muscles. It starts in the legs and pelvis area and slowly affects entire body. It can also affect heart muscles. This disease can be visible in young age.

Children can suffer heart problem by the time they reach 10 years of age and disable them when they reach 12 years. This can also cause death of some children.

Investigations are being carried out by scientists to probe the future possibility of use of Sildenafil drug for patients with muscular dystrophy. Sildenafil is the generic name of Viagra that is a popular anti-impotence drug. However, more clinical trials are required before it is actually approved for such patients.
What is impotence?
It is the inability of men to attain or maintain an erection, which is necessary to complete a satisfying sexual activity. Impotence can happen to men in any age. However, it mostly occurs in men as they start getting old. In older men, it is frequent problem which can often be improved when they buy cialis or any other orally taken impotence treatment.

There are many causes of impotence in men. It can occur due to physical problems, psychological problems, or even due to intake of excess prescription drugs. Heart problems are also an indication that impotence may be knocking around. The veins and arteries in the body have less blood circulation and it may be visible in the form of impotence. Viagra is one of the useful prescription drugs used for treating erectile dysfunction.
