How does Hc45 Hydrocortisone Cream work?
When irritation or an allergic reaction occurs, the immune system reacts by releasing inflammatory substances. These cause a widening of blood vessels under the skin, leading to redness, swelling and itching.
Hc45 Hydrocortisone Cream contains the active ingredient hydrocortisone acetate 1.0%. This is a mild corticosteroid that is used to reduce skin inflammation.
Hydrocortisone acetate works inside the skin cells to prevent inflammatory substances from being released. This reduces itching, redness and irritation.
Because hydrocortisone acetate is classed as a mild topical corticosteroid, it is commonly used in the treatment of minor skin irritation caused by the following:
- Insect bites or stings
- Reactions to soap or toiletries
It should be used for a maximum of 7 days. If no improvement is seen within this time, consult your doctor for advice.
How to use Hc45 Hydrocortisone Cream
- You should apply a thin layer of cream to the affected area once or twice a day
- Less is more - avoid using too much as this may cause skin thinning
- Wash your hands thoroughly after application
- Avoid getting the cream in your nose, eyes or mouth. If this occurs, rinse well with cold water
- Do not cover the area being treated with bandages or dressings, as this can enhance absorption
- If you think the area being treated has become infected, you should seek advice from your doctor
