How do Telfast 120mg Tablets work?
Seasonal allergic rhinitis, more commonly known as hay fever, most often occurs in the summer months due to an increase in pollen levels. Telfast 120mg Tablets work to relieve the symptoms of hay fever such as an itchy nose, congestion, red, watery eyes and sneezing.
These tablets contain fexofenadine hydrochloride, a non-sedating antihistamine. Our bodies produce histamine in response to allergens such as pollen, and fexofenadine works to prevent the release of histamine, preventing an allergic reaction.
This medicine usually starts to provide relief from symptoms within half an hour to an hour of taking a dose.
Fexofenadine can also be used in the treatment of chronic idiopathic urticaria, an itchy skin rash similar to hives. By blocking histamine receptors, it provides relief from itching.
You should always take this medicine exactly as advised by your doctor.

Telfast 120mg Tablets have been known to interact with ketoconazole, maalox and erythromycin. If you are taking any of these medicines, you should consult your doctor before using these tablets.
Although fexofenadine is a non-sedating antihistamine, there is a chance it could make you feel slightly drowsy. You should avoid driving or operating machinery until you are sure how this medicine affects you.
If you are elderly, suffer from epilepsy or have a history of heart disease, your doctor may wish to monitor you while taking this medicine.
You should avoid taking indigestion remedies within 2 hours of taking this medicine, as antacids containing aluminium or magnesium can make fexofenadine less effective.
Tell your doctor if you are taking any other medicines including herbal remedies. St John's wort and rifampicin (for tuberculosis) may increase the speed at which your body breaks down fexofenadine.
You should avoid using this medicine if you are allergic to fexofenadine hydrochloride or any of the other ingredients. If you experience an allergic reaction, stop using it immediately and see your doctor for medical advice.
There is no data to suggest that Telfast 120mg Tablets are harmful to the unborn baby if taken while pregnant. However, if you are pregnant you should not use this medicine unless your doctor considers it essential.
