The past year has been an exciting one here at HealthExpress, with a number of new categories and medications added to our range. This allows us to offer the most comprehensive service we can, catering for a variety of different lifestyle and medical conditions. This past year has seen us branching out particularly into areas of women’s health, adding a section for Contraception, for example, early in 2011. We also offer Period Delay tablets and treatment for FSD.

This month, we launched three new categories for women’s health: Cystitis, Thrush and Hair Removal. Both cystitis and thrush are extremely common infections, affecting the majority of women at least once in their lifetimes. Fortunately, these infections are usually fairly mild, but in some cases they can be more serious, causing more severe symptoms and lasting for an uncomfortably long time. Some women will also experience recurrent outbreaks of infection throughout their lives if they are particularly susceptible to it.

The category Hair Removal has been created for women who suffer from excessive growth of facial hair, otherwise known as facial hirsutism. This is a potentially embarrassing condition which can lead to feelings of low self-esteem and poor body image. There are many different treatment options for this condition, from short-term solutions such as shaving and waxing, to more permanent treatments such as electrolysis. These options each carry their own potential drawbacks and disadvantages, and it is up to the individual woman to decide which is best suited to her. If shaving proves ineffective or permanent treatments too risky, there is also the option of prescription medication, which is now available at HealthExpress.

Prescription treatment for Cystitis

Now available at HealthExpress is the prescription medication Trimethoprim, which is capable of treating cystitis. Trimethoprim tablets can be taken to treat a current infection or over a long-term period as a preventative treatment. Its effectiveness in these two tasks means it is often recommended to women who experience frequent recurrent infections. Many women are actually completely unaware that there are prescription medications like Trimethoprim available to treat cystitis and instead suffer the uncomfortable symptoms without seeking help. This doesn’t have to be the case, and we hope that we can help to raise awareness of this option for women.

Prescription treatments for Thrush

There are two types of prescription medication now offered at HealthExpress, and they are called Diflucan and Gyno-Daktarin. Both methods are highly effective and can be used alongside each other if necessary. Diflucan comes in tablet form and Gyno-Daktarin is a cream treatment. As with cystitis treatments, many women are unaware that treatments such as these exist to treat and alleviate the symptoms of vaginal thrush. For persistent or recurrent thrush, these treatments can be very effective to quicken recovery and soothe uncomfortable symptoms.

Prescription treatments for Hair Removal

For women experiencing excessive facial hair growth, Vaniqa is an effective and safe prescription medication designed to be used as a long-term treatment for the condition. Vaniqa is a cream medication and can be found right here at HealthExpress. It is safe, easy to apply and presents a low risk of side effects, making it a popular choice for women who are experiencing facial hirsutism. If you would like to find out more about cystitis, thrush or hair removal, you can visit the individual pages for more information.
