Detrusitol XL 4mg Capsules are used to treat symptoms of an overactive bladder such as incontinence, urinary frequency or urgency. The capsules contain tolterodine tartrate, an antispasmodic and anticholinergic muscle relaxant which helps reduce the need to pass urine.
Detrusitol XL 4mg Capsules are only available on prescription from your doctor, which can be obtained online from HealthExpress.
You may have to take this medicine for a few weeks before you see a noticeable improvement in your symptoms.
An overactive bladder occurs when the detrusor muscle in the bladder wall contracts uncontrollably, making you feel the sudden urge to pass urine or increasing the number of times you need to pass urine (on occasion even causing incontinence).
Detrusitol XL 4mg Capsules are prolonged-release capsules that contain the antispasmodic tolterodine tartrate.
This anticholinergic muscle relaxant helps relax the detrusor muscle, blocking cholinergic receptors in the muscle cells. Ultimately, this stops the bladder muscle from contracting suddenly and increases the amount of urine your bladder can hold.
This eases symptoms and reduces the need to pass urine as frequently or urgently.
Because these are prolonged-release capsules, they continue working throughout the day after you take a dose.
There is only one dosage available for Detrusitol XL 4mg capsules. Each capsule contains 4mg of tolterodine tartrate (equivalent to 2.74mg of tolterodine).
These capsules are only available by prescription from your doctor.
Detrusitol XL 4mg capsules come in blister packs of various sizes or in bottles of 30, 100 and 200 capsules.
