More information about Premique

What is Premique?

Premique is a hormonal replacement therapy (HRT) taken in the form of a tablet. It is available in the dosage of 300mcg / 1.5mg. It's a period-free HRT treatment meaning that you don't have a monthly bleed, but contains two active ingredients, namely conjugated oestrogens and progestogen, making it suitable for women who have not had a hysterectomy. It helps to replace the depleted oestrogen levels in the body, alleviating problematic symptoms associated with the menopause and is available in this lower dosage suitable for women who are prone to side effects.

How does Premique work?

Premique contains the synthetic hormones conjugated oestrogens and medroxyprogesterone acetate. Conjugated oestrogens are natural oestrogens, meaning that they cause the body to respond in a very similar way to the oestrogen that is naturally produced. In general, conjugated oestrogen is considered better for HRT in comparison to the artificial oestrogens that are used in contraceptives.

By taking Premique, oestrogen levels can be kept as close as possible to normal to help alleviate menopausal symptoms. However, in women with a uterus, taking oestrogen can increase the risk of endometrial cancers.

What are the benefits of Premique?

Menopause can result in a number of uncomfortable conditions and symptoms; this is largely because the body doesn't produce female sex hormones like it used to. Premique hormone replacement therapy works effectively to reduce these symptoms and provide some relief for the user. A drop in oestrogen in particular is to blame for the most bothersome symptoms experienced by women after menopause. Menopause can cause women to experience night sweats, hot flashes, vaginal dryness and a loss in bone density that could increase a woman's risk of developing osteoporosis.

Premique also contains progestogen, which means that women who have experienced menopause but have not had a hysterectomy can use this medication to reduce the risk of womb cancers as a result of oestrogen supplements.

How do I use Premique?

Premique tablets should be taken daily for 28 days, ideally at the same time. Each pack contains the days of the week to ensure that you can keep track of whether you've taken your pill or not. There should be no break between the packs for consistent results.

When you first start using this treatment, you'll most likely be prescribed the lowest dose first to ensure that you don't experience side effects and that you benefit from the medication, as you should.

What if I miss a tablet?

A tablet should be taken as soon as you remember, and the therapy should carry on as usual. If more than one tablet has been forgotten then only the most recent dose should be taken, never double dose to make up for a missed tablet. Also be aware that missed pills may cause breakthrough bleeding.

What precautions/interactions should I be aware of when taking Premique?

Premique will normally be prescribed to women over the age of 18 who have not had a hysterectomy and who are experiencing menopausal symptoms. Before deciding to buy Premique, there are a number of precautions that should be considered.

  • Premique should be used with caution if you have a history of breast cancer (or benign breast lumps), asthma, depression, or gallbladder disease.
  • Should not be taken if you have had stroke or coronary heart disease
  • This treatment should also be used with caution if you are dealing with conditions that make you more vulnerable to blood clotting, liver disease, diabetes, high blood pressure, obesity, epilepsy, depression, or undiagnosed vaginal bleeding
  • Premique shouldn't be taken if you have had a stroke or heart attack recently, or if you are intending to use this treatment during pregnancy or whilst breastfeeding.

HealthExpress will only approve consultations for women who have already been recommended this hormone replacement therapy treatment by their regular doctor and are seeking a repeat prescription.

What dosages are available for Premique?

Premique comes in one strength from HealthExpress; Premique Low Dose. Premique Low Dose tablets each contain 300 micrograms of conjugated oestrogen (equine) and 1.5 milligrams of medroxyprogesterone.

What are the side effects of Premique?

Side effects of oestrogen and progestogen treatments such as these may include:

  • Headaches
  • Backaches
  • Indigestion
  • Fluid retention
  • Mood changes or changes in sex drive

Luckily most of these can be avoided by ensuring that you exercise enough, eat healthily and take this HRT treatment with meals.

If you experience anything worse or these effects are bothering you, it's important that you speak to your doctor, although most doctors will be able to monitor you effectively enough while using this medication to ensure that you are safe while using it.

How can I buy Premique online safely?

You can buy Premique or other hormone replacement therapy medications safely and securely online from HealthExpress. However, we advise that you only do so if you are already using this treatment and you've been recommended it by your doctor. Simply complete a quick, free, and simple online consultation, providing as much information as possible, so that our doctor will be able to assess your eligibility for a prescription.
