Skinoren 20% Cream is used in the treatment of acne vulgaris (common acne). Acne can affect the face, chest and back and, as well as being painful, acne spots can lead to permanent scarring. The cream contains the active ingredient azelaic acid, which is also used in the treatment of rosacea.
Skinoren 20% Cream is a topical treatment that kills bacteria and unblocks pores to eliminate acne and help skin heal.
Skinoren 20% Cream is only available by prescription from your doctor, which can be obtained online. This medication should not be used for a period of longer than 12 months at a time.
Skinoren 20% Cream contains the active ingredient azelaic acid. Azelaic acid disrupts the growth of bacteria by reducing sebum, controlling inflammation and letting skin heal.
When applied topically (rubbed into the skin), this ingredient works to unblock the skin's sebaceous glands and pores, by reducing the growth of surface skin cells. This allows sebum to escape, reducing spots and blackheads.
Azelaic acid also has an antibacterial action. It kills Propionibacterium acnes; acne-causing bacteria that live off sebum on the skin and cause inflammation and spots.
You should start to notice improvements in your skin after around 4 weeks of using the cream. However, for best results, it is recommended to continue using the cream for several months, or as directed by your doctor or pharmacist.
There is only one dosage available for Skinoren 20% Cream. The cream comes in a 30g tube. 1g of the cream contains 200mg of azelaic acid (20% w/w). This dosage has been clinically tested by medical professionals and approved to sell in the UK. It provides maximum effectiveness with limited chance of side effects.
