More information about Tamiflu
Tamiflu (oseltamivir) is a treatment for influenza, commonly known as 'the flu'. It attacks the influenza virus and prevents it from spreading throughout the body. Since 1999, Tamiflu has been used to successfully treat over 50 million cases of the different forms of influenza. In the 2009 H1N1 swine flu pandemic, Tamiflu was shown by the World Health Organisation (WHO) to work against over 98% of the 15,000 tested samples of the influenza virus. Tamiflu is administered orally in the form of a 75 mg tablet.
Tamiflu works by blocking the spread of the flu virus, confining it to a smaller area and allowing the immune system to kill the virus. The result of taking Tamiflu is that the symptoms of influenza are significantly less severe and the time you feel ill is reduced.
Influenza is a contagious virus, which is passed from one person to another by coughing and sneezing. Once the virus enters the body, it invades cells and replicates to form new virus particles. These new copies of the virus are then released from the cells and move on to infect nearby cells, where the process is repeated. Rather than just dealing with the symptoms of influenza, Tamiflu actively helps to reduce the chance of further infection.
There are a number of benefits that can be experienced when taking Tamiflu tablets. These can include:
The recommended oral dose of Tamiflu for treatment of influenza in adults and adolescents 13 years and older is:
You should take any missed doses as soon as you remember, except if it is near the next scheduled dose (within two hours), and then continue to take Tamiflu at the usual times. Never take a double dose to make up for a previously missed dose.
Tamiflu tablets can be taken by men and women over the age of 18, with influenza (flu). Before deciding to buy Tamiflu, there are some precautions that should be carefully considered, to ensure your safety.
It is possible that you may experience some side effects when taking Tamiflu tablets. Potential side effects can include:
These effects are considered to be common and highly unlikely to occur. If you do happen to experience any of these effects, they are likely to disappear within just a few days of treatment. If they persist, it is recommended that you talk to a doctor or your local GP to discuss your condition.
