I had a lot of trouble with reordering from the website. At the final stage the site was endlessly buffering. I accessed my account again from a different web browser and the same thing happened. The online chat wasn’t much help, advising me to delete my history and try again - no joy. Then I was asked to call the helpline. When I did this I was informed there was no one available and asked to leave a message, which I did. No one called back. It was only on the second occasion that I got through to a person who confirmed my order. In the days following I was bombarded by electronic emails telling me I had an incomplete order (which I didn’t) and asking if a needed help (!)
Femseven is a hormone replacement therapy (HRT) patch for postmenopausal women who are experiencing symptoms caused by lower oestrogen levels after menopause.
The patch is applied to the skin once a week and helps relieve symptoms such as hot flushes, mood changes, and sleep difficulties. It provides discreet, ongoing support for women who no longer have a womb.
At HealthExpress, we offer Femseven in 50 mcg, 75 mcg, and 100 mcg doses, so you can find a patch that suits you.
Femseven comes in two main forms: the standard Femseven patch and Femseven Conti. The key difference is that Femseven is an oestrogen-only patch, whereas Femseven Conti combines oestrogen with a progestogen (levonorgestrel).
Because Femseven doesn’t contain a progestogen, Femseven patches are generally more suitable for women who have had a hysterectomy. If you still have a womb, you’ll also need to take a progestogen to protect the womb lining during treatment with Femseven. This prevents the womb lining from thickening, which can increase the risk of womb cancer.
Femseven works by releasing estradiol hemihydrate through the skin, which then binds to oestrogen receptors. Estradiol is a body-identical oestrogen that replaces levels of the hormone lost during menopause.
With hormone levels restored, symptoms usually ease, helping you feel more like yourself again.
Clinical studies have found Femseven to be a well-tolerated and effective way to treat menopause symptoms. In particular, it effectively reduces symptoms like hot flushes and night sweats.
One study involving 19 postmenopausal women over 60 found that cognitive health significantly improved after treatment with Femseven. This included things like reaction time, spatial working memory, and mood. In general, most women involved in this study found that symptoms of menopause improved after at least 12 weeks using Femseven.
Follow these instructions when putting on Femseven patches:
Change application sites weekly to avoid skin irritation. If you forget to apply a patch, apply it as soon as possible and your next one at the usual time. Do not use 2 patches at the same time.
Each Femseven is worn for 7 days. After a week, remove the patch by peeling it off from one corner, and apply a new one to a different area of skin on the thigh or buttocks.
Femseven starts supplying oestrogen immediately after you attach it. It can however take a few weeks or up to 3 months for you to notice an improvement to your symptoms.
Femseven patches are available in 50 mcg, 75 mcg, and 100 mcg doses. This refers to the amount of oestrogen released every 24 hours.
The 50 mcg patch is the lowest effective dose and is usually prescribed first.
If your symptoms are not adequately controlled after around 3 months, your doctor may review your treatment and consider increasing the dose to 75 mcg, and then 100 mcg if needed.
To be prescribed Femseven, you usually need to be a woman going through menopause who no longer has a womb. This is typically due to a hysterectomy.
If you still have a womb, you may be prescribed Femseven alongside a progestogen, but most women in this situation are offered a combined patch such as Femseven Conti instead. Your doctor will advise what’s safest for you.
Do not take Femseven if you have:
HRT patches are generally tolerated better than oral treatments, but Femseven can still cause side effects.

Femseven is considered safe for most women, provided it is prescribed by a licensed healthcare professional. It was approved for use in the UK in December 2005, and since then has been a trusted product for thousands who rely on it for effective HRT treatment.
However, as with all HRT medicines, it can pose some risk. You should take special care if you still have a womb or you have a condition that makes you more likely to get a blood clot. Speak with your doctor if you’re unsure about the safety of treatment with Femseven.
