HRT plaster - it works. The glue can be a bit hit and miss, i.e. some plasters stick better than others. The price has gone up drastically since the manufacturer changed.

More information about Evorel Conti

About Evorel Conti patches

What are Evorel Conti patches?

Evorel Conti is a hormone replacement therapy (HRT) containing oestrogen and a progestogen. When applied twice weekly, they release hormones through the skin to help ease symptoms of menopause like night sweats, hot flushes, and sleep disruptions.

After a short online consultation, a HealthExpress menopause specialist can assess whether Evorel Conti or another Evorel patch is the most suitable option for you.

How do Evorel Conti patches work?

Evorel Conti works by releasing hormones through the skin that your body produces less of during menopause. It does this through its two active ingredients:

  • Estradiol: body-identical form of oestrogen that helps rebalance hormone levels and ease menopause symptoms.
  • Norethisterone: A type of progestogen that protects your womb lining from excessive thickening.

This dual-action formula ensures effective symptom control while protecting your uterus.

What are the benefits of Evorel Conti?

Using Evorel Conti for menopause offers many health benefits:

  • Eases menopause symptoms: including night sweats, hot flushes, sleep disruptions, mood changes, nausea and more.
  • Safe for women with a womb: combined hormone formulation treats symptoms while protecting the uterus.
  • Patches offer a lower risk of blood clots: Transdermal patches carry a lower risk of blood clotting than oral HRTs, although the risk is not zero.
  • Non-invasive HRT option: easy-to-apply patches allow for effective symptom control without the need to take daily tablets.

Using Evorel Conti

How do I apply Evorel Conti patches?

Follow these instructions when applying Evorel Conti:

  1. Choose a clean, dry, and hairless area of skin on the thighs or buttocks.
  2. Apply 1 patch to the skin, ensuring there are no creases.
  3. Change your patch on the same 2 days each week, leaving each one on for 3 or 4 days. 2 patches should last 7 days.

MPORTANT: If you don’t have a uterus, an oestrogen-only HRT may be more suitable.

When should I start using Evorel Conti?

If you are postmenopausal (you have not had a natural period for at least 12 months) and are not currently using HRT, you can usually start Evorel Conti at any time.

If you are switching from another HRT, the timing of when to start Evorel Conti will depend on the type of HRT you are using:

If you are…
  • Not currently using another type of HRT
  • Changing from an HRT medicine that gives you a withdrawal bleed
  • Using another type of HRT
Do this…
  • Start at any time
  • Apply your first patch at the end of a treatment cycle or one week after you finish using another HRT product
  • Ask your doctor for advice. The day you start will depend on the HRT you have been using

How long does Evorel Conti take to work?

Evorel Conti patches begin supplying oestrogen to the body as soon as a patch is applied, but it can take up to 3 weeks before a significant improvement in symptoms is noticed. The full effects of Evorel Conti should be felt after 3 months of consistent use.

What dosages are available?

Evorel Conti is available in a single strength: 50 mcg estradiol / 170 mcg norethisterone per patch. This combined patch is designed for postmenopausal women who still have a womb.

Safety and precautions

Who cannot use Evorel Conti patches?

Evorel Conti patches are usually prescribed for postmenopausal women who still have a womb. If you’ve had a hysterectomy (no womb), you may instead be recommended an oestrogen-only Evorel patch. Our menopause specialists will help you choose the option that’s safest and most suitable for you.

Do not use Evorel Conti if you have:

  • an allergy to any of the ingredients
  • ever had breast cancer or a cancer sensitive to oestrogens
  • unexplained vaginal bleeding
  • excessive thickening of the womb lining (endometrial hyperplasia) that is not being treated
  • ever had a blood clot in a vein or a blood clotting disorder
  • recently had a disease caused by blood clots in the arteries, such as heart attack or stroke
  • ever had a liver disease and your liver function tests have not returned to normal
  • porphyria (a rare inherited blood disorder)

What are the most common side effects of Evorel Conti?

Like all HRTs, Evorel Conti can cause side effects, although not everyone will get them.

The most common side effects include:

  • skin irritation where the patch is applied
  • difficulty sleeping
  • feeling depressed
  • headache
  • feeling your heartbeats (palpitations)

  • nausea
  • diarrhoea
  • stomach ache
  • joint pain
  • painful periods
