Elleste Duet is an HRT medication that combines oestrogen and progestogen to help ease menopause symptoms while protecting your uterine lining. It is suitable for women who still have their womb, including those who are perimenopausal or still having periods, as progestogen makes you less likely to experience excessive thickening of the endometrium than oestrogen-only HRTs.
Elleste Duet follows a sequential regimen, meaning oestrogen is taken every day and progestogen is added for part of the month. Taken in the order set in the pack, this helps manage menopause symptoms like hot flushes, sleep problems, mood swings, and more, while mimicking a natural menstrual cycle.
It is available from HealthExpress in the form of 1 mg and 2 mg tablets.
Elleste Duet is an HRT that supplements oestrogen lost during menopause and includes progestogen to protect the lining of your uterus. Its effects come from these two active ingredients:
This dual-action support helps you take back control of your hormones during menopause, helping you regain balance and confidence.
Elleste Duet is generally well-tolerated and highly effective, helping women ease symptoms and regain balance. It’s generally considered a reliable, effective option for managing hot flushes, night sweats, mood changes, and other menopause symptoms, especially for women who still have a womb and need a treatment containing both oestrogen and progesterone.
Take 1 tablet every day with a glass of water. You can take Elleste Duet at any time of day, just make sure you take every tablet at around the same time to ensure a steady supply of hormones.
Each strip of tablets will have two different colour tablets. Start with the first one in the pack, and follow the arrows to ensure you take your next ones in the correct order. Continue taking tablets every day until the strip is finished, and then start your next one without a break.
Your doctor will let you know how long you should take this treatment for. You should be prescribed the lowest effective dose to minimise the risk of side effects.
When you start taking Elleste Duet depends on whether or not you still have menstrual periods:
If you are switching from another oral HRT, start taking Elleste Duet once you finish the one you are currently taking. If you are switching from another type of HRT (e.g. patches), speak to your doctor about how to switch safely and effectively, as advice depends on what you’re switching from.
Elleste Duet works instantly to supply your body with hormones, but it can take a few weeks for you to notice an improvement in your symptoms. Peak effects are usually felt about 3 months after you take your first tablet, and continuously support you until you stop taking it.
Some women notice changes in weight while taking Elleste Duet, but it isn’t clear whether this is a result of Elleste Duet directly, or of menopause itself.
Lower oestrogen levels as a result of menopause have been linked to weight gain due to factors like reduced activity levels, overeating, and changes to metabolism. If weight gain has been experienced as a result of hormone changes, then Elleste Duet may indirectly support you in this way. Weight gained may also be water weight as a result of fluid retention, and should only be temporary.
Elleste Duet can be safely taken by postmenopausal women who still have a womb, provided treatment is deemed safe in our short online consultation.
Do not take Elleste Duet if you have:
During your consultation, tell your doctor about any health conditions and medications you use to make sure your treatment is safe for you.

Elleste Duet is safe provided you are prescribed treatment from a licensed healthcare provider like HealthExpress. Elleste Duet was approved for use in the UK in 1997, meaning it has a long track record of clinical use and monitoring.
If you no longer have a womb, you may be prescribed an oestrogen-only HRT like Elleste Solo since you are not at risk of endometrial problems.
