I had a lot of trouble with reordering from the website. At the final stage the site was endlessly buffering. I accessed my account again from a different web browser and the same thing happened. The online chat wasn’t much help, advising me to delete my history and try again - no joy. Then I was asked to call the helpline. When I did this I was informed there was no one available and asked to leave a message, which I did. No one called back. It was only on the second occasion that I got through to a person who confirmed my order. In the days following I was bombarded by electronic emails telling me I had an incomplete order (which I didn’t) and asking if a needed help (!)
Estradot is a transdermal hormonal patch manufactured by Sandoz that’s used to relieve symptoms of menopause like hot flush, night sweats, vaginal dryness, sleep problems, and low mood. Unlike other HRT treatments that contain two hormones to ease menopausal symptoms, Estradot patches only contain oestrogen. Because of this, it is typically only prescribed to women who do not have a womb, or if a progestogen is prescribed alongside it.
Estradot patches work by binding to specific oestrogen receptors in the body to replace natural oestrogen that decreases during menopause. It does this through its active ingredient, estradiol, which is a synthetic version of oestrogen. With hormone levels stabilised, symptoms of menopause are reduced and balance restored.
Estradot patches offer several health benefits. As well as greatly reducing the severity of menopausal symptoms, HRT with Estradot can reduce your risk of osteoporosis by maintaining the strength of your bones. They also carry a lower risk of blood clotting than oral HRT, although some risk remains. In addition to its health benefits, it’s translucent, allowing for discreet and noninvasive treatment.
To apply Estradot patches correctly, follow these instructions:
You should replace your patch every 3-4 days, using a total of 2 patches per week. You should always wear a patch to maintain steady levels of oestrogen.
If your patch falls off, apply a new one straight away. Replace this patch on the same day you would have replaced the one that fell off.
Estradot patches are available in 37.5 mcg, 50 mcg, 75 mcg, and 100 mcg doses. This is the amount of estradiol (oestrogen) released every 24 hours. The standard dose is 50 mcg, but you may be prescribed more or less depending on individual factors and your response to treatment.
To use Estradot patches, you must be a woman who has been through menopause, and you must have had a hysterectomy (removal of the womb). You can still be prescribed Estradot if you have not undergone this procedure, but you will be prescribed a progestogen alongside it to reduce the risk of endometrial cancer.
Do not use Estradot if you:

This is not an exhaustive list. For a full list of Estradot’s side effects, consult the patient information leaflet.
Estradot is safe provided you get a prescription from a licensed healthcare professional. It was approved for use in the UK in April 2002, and since then has been a trusted product for thousands who rely on it for effective HRT treatment.
However, as with all HRT medicines, it can pose some risk. You should take special care if you still have a womb or you have a condition that makes you more likely to get a blood clot. Speak with your doctor if you’re unsure about the safety of treatment with Estradot.
